electro steering

Featured Replies

has this ever happened????

brought the car in for new tyres and it was hoisted high on a two post four plate lift so suspension was at full downward extension

when lowered back down the steering wheel is now off centre .. the car is driving as straight as a dye always has and never been subject to pathfinding..

has the steering been sent off from the suspension full travel... have the settings been off set from lifting

its an odd one i know but im bewildered as to how or why ???

is this a warranty issue ???

warranty warranty what would we do without it ??????

I would think its a tyre issue, the geometery wont have been effected.

Tyre pressures ok?

checked pressures and they are bang on , like i say the car is as straight as a dye but the steering wheel is now not ..... scratching my head now that you can shed no light on this..

but you reckon settings are reset on sus and steer.. should i bring it for an allignment test or get them to adjust tracking to straighten wheel ... or give it to the garage to remove and straighten wheel itself...

it looks lousy to have the wheel offskew like this with an otherwise great looking workhorse

I had a Nissan navara that pulled to the the left. Thought it was road camber and then tracking. Tracking was done by a couple of really good places with no improvement. Swapped tyres from back to the front and the issue was solved.

now theres a thing ... it was only fronts that i changed. thats bizarre .. was there any reason given.. whats the point in having these directional tyres but hold on i have just checked the bridgestones and they too are directional 17s ..so what gives .. do i have to use bridgestones to straighten my wheel??

I had a rack changed on my 57 vRS TDI and the steering was not straight when I got it back. Skoda adjusted the track rod ends and all correected. Then a few thousand miles later I had new front tyres and the steering wheel went off centre again............etc. etc...

To cut a long story short and after many alignment checks, Volkswagen did a full 4 wheel alignment and had to move the steering wheel a couple of splines. It turns out that the car was not re-aligned when the rack was changed. Its possible that your car is not aligned properly and this is why the steering wheel has moved after new tyres.

Hope this helps?

we will see i have brought it to their attention

heres a thought would when it was set in factory be done by allowing the weight of a particular tyre.. so if you change brand you upset balance in rack ???

just athought
