hi guys well heartache again today... started off with a faint and irregular knock so i pulled over at my earliest convenience and popped the lid to have a look .. the alternator belt had only begun to unravel itself and try to give the fuel filter pipes a jolly good thrashing so gave the dealer a call ( autostation sandyford ) . they told me to get it over .. happy days so off i went and left it in their capable hands

lunch came and went and then the phone rang with news....

i was asked if i ever had reason to go near the or a turbo pipe in the vicinity of the aforementioned pipe ... to which i duly answered NO!

seems this pipe was kinked and this caused the belt to rip apart?????

please techies help in this ... im not too sure if this possible

are they trying to get out of warranty

as said in previous posts ... she is 08 with 40kms dsg 1.9

How does a kinked pipe cause an alternator belt to come off unless it was rubbing? At which point the belt would have cut into the pipe surely?

thank you i would of thought that the turbo belt would too be rubber in which case the belt would have cut straight thru and spilling oil everywhere

a guy told me that the garages are in such bad financial state over here at the minute that they dont want to do warranty work straight off preferring to sting the customer for cash instead

but anything else you guys can arm me with would be appreciated .. thanks

did i mention this so called kinked pipe is an oil pipe to the turbo ... now does this throw any light on the subject for anyone

well i have it back fixed under warranty but the tracking issue hasnt been sorted.. some viewers may remember my issue with the offset steering wheel after the new tyres were fitted

they say they have advised me at this time to have electronically alligned ?????

Get a 4 wheel geometry check.

A lot of places give a free check, but will charge to make an adjustment.

thanks cheezy will try that one ,, might take the original tyres from the rear and stick them on the front to see if this makes any difference???
