buying superb today

Featured Replies

Hi all

Picking up a 52 1.8 comfort today. Anything i need to look out for specifically?

The car doesnt have total enclosure, can this be sorted via vagcom?

Any advice/suggestions will be welcome.

Yes, do a search all the common faults are covered extensively.

The biggest one is 'water ingress' do not buy a car that has it walk away - you have been warned!

I would of thought the total enclosure would be activate on a Comfort if it is fitted, so it probably just too old (52 was one of the first)

How many miles on it and how much has it cost you?

checked for water ingress and found nothing. all electrics working fine.

51.5k on the clock with full fish-bro service history

Drove the car home (approx. 80miles) and it drove a treat. Early days i guess. The seller pretended it was a private sell however i sussed out he was auctually trade. no big deal though

It would have been a big deal for me. For a start there is the dealers profit that you have paid for over and above the value of your particular car. Then there is just the plain dishonesty of it. I'd have walked away the moment I twigged.

Must agree with you mate, i only sussed it out after the transaction took place. The basket even took the tax disc out and left the old one in there. i only figured that out this morning. Its petty and he had no need to do that. I have had to park the car in someone elses drive until i can sort out the tax tomorrow morning. Bloody low life

If you think he's a trader, speak to (his) local Trading Standards. Least then they can confirm.
