IN order to hack away at the wiring (see previous posts), I need to remove the symphony HU from my car. Two points:

1. Do I need to source special skoda keys to get the unit out or can I improvise with something else?

2. If I unplug the HU, will it need to be recoded afterwards?

go on save the kitten, try a search...

1. A junior hacksaw blade cut in half will work to remove the HU.

2. on my 2003 car the HU is coded to the car, so if you take it out and then put it back it says safe for a few seconds then works. At least until it died and I replaced it with a nice Blaupunkt one instead

Yeah sorry, I did a few searches but found a few contradictory responses on point 2. I guess I'll just have to chance it.
