Cornering noise

Featured Replies

Hi everybody. I have a strange low-tone, grinding noise during hard cornering (wheel locked - maximum angle) to the right. If I press the clutch, the noise disappears. I can only hear the noise during maximum cornering. Otherwise the car rides smoothly and without a problem. The car has 45 000 km, 2.0 TDI.

Any good idea?

Thank you.

How loud is the noise ? There are a lot of things that could cause noise. Releasing the clutch will necessarily cause the car to slow down and the forces on the suspension change so the noise will change.

The noise is like a long "hmmmmmm" that occurs all the time as long as the steering wheel is locked to the right and the clutch is NOT depressed. As soon as I depress the clutch, the noise instantly disappears.
