Heated Rear window switch

Featured Replies

Hi!

The yellow light behind the switch to turn on the rear window warmer seems to be gone. I've got a garage 3 month warranty and just wondered if it was an easy replace? I'd do it myself to save having to drive back out to the garage.

anyone any idea if its a bulb or part of a kit?

Thanks

Andy

I had a problem with the bulb not going out.

I had to take out the stereo, remove the button, dismantle the button (a pain and it doesn't look like it's supposed to be done) and replace a spring that was 3-4 mm long, the bulb is tiny and I think the switch is only a couple of quid anyway.

Might be easier just to replace it.

I think the easiest way into those switches (unless you have heated seats), is to remove the blank one first.

I've just replaced the bulb in mine. Getting the switch out was the worst bit (remove the blank first as suggested above) but make sure you don't lose the small spring which will probably jump out as you dismantle the switch. The bulb is a clear grain-of-wheat type, 4mm diameter and 10mm long with two long wire connectors. I couldn't get an exact replacement but I've fitted a 3.2mm diameter yellow bulb from Maplin Electronics, held in place with a blob of Araldite after I soldered its wires to the switch terminals.
