Central locking problem

Featured Replies

Hi all, I'm hoping that one of you technically minded types can assist here .....

I have a '98 S plate octavia which until recently was functioning fine.

The central locking has now stopped working ..... unlocks from remote and drivers door OK except the passenger door. The passenger door will only unlock using the key or from the inside. The 'lights on' warning isn't woring either.

I've had the door panels and half the dash out today after reading the advice on here about the problem.

There is no water ingress into the driver or passenger door.

All the wiring between control unit in drivers door and conector blocks is fine (tested with a meter) and all the earthing points are good.

Am I looking at purely a passenger door problem or is there something I'm missing?

My next step is to have a diagnostics check done ........ another big bill!!

I hope someone can help!

Thanks in advance, Keith :D

I'd try a continuity test across the wiring from A-post to passenger door, and check the door microswitch, which is attached to the latch unit.

I have also had both my front door cards off today but havn't managed to fix my annoying problems either.

My passenger door only locks and unlocks occasionally and the L.E.D does not work on the drivers side door.

Everything else works, all other door locks, electric windows, electric mirrors....

I spent around three hours checking for dampness, loose wires, corroded wires and could not find anything obvious.

All the electrical contacts and plug on the control modules are dry as a bone, no loose wires either.

So i sprayed WD-40 on just about everything and left it for a while but still nothing.

So i feel like i've wasted a whole morning on this.

My passenger door still doesn't unlock/lock via the remote apart from on the odd occasion.

Also flashing alarm L.E.D light on drivers door has given up completely.

Is there anything else i could try/look at that doesn't involve taking the door panels off?
