Hi all, loving my new vrs tdi. Sorry for another servicing thread, but I'm confused. When I bought the car, they told me that they put all their cars on a fixed service and as I do 13000 miles a year this seemed fair enough. The car has 14500 miles on the clock and they gave it a service and told me I don't need it doing for 10000 miles. However, I have checked the cars service indicator and it says I need it servicing in only 4000 miles. Does this mean they haven't reset the indicator or that I should just ignore it until 10000 miles:confused:

It means the car was on variable and the oil change will be needed when the car says. This sounds like it will be at 18.5k miles, which is the the limit for variable service.

thanks for the reply. that would mean though that the car only goes 4500 miles between services? I'm assuming that if i service again at 18500, then it will be 10000 miles before another one:confused:

Sounds like they didn't set it to fixed servicing when they serviced it at 14500. My experience is that garages always forget to reset the service indicator. For fixed servicing only you can set this yourself, check the manual. For fixed you get 10K between servicing, so your next service will be 24500.
