Braking problems..

Featured Replies

Evening all,

I've got a 03 superb 2.5 TDi guys and I need your help. Every time I go around a right hand bend the handbrake warning light comes on in the display with the message:STOP, BRAKE FAULT, CHECK SERVICE MANUAL. This only happens on a right hand turn. I've checked the brake fluid and it's up to the correct level, as i thought it may be sloshing around in the reservoir and activating the fluid level sensor but no. It's slowly driving me mad:mad:. Any ideas anyone????

Check the PAS fluid as well, long shot but the doppy old Skoda might just be confusing the rack with the brakes, electronic glitch.

Ok Supurbia, I'll check that. Cheers for the reply.

There are no electronics associated with the hydraulic power steering on the B5.5 - that's why this part of the car is reliable. There is therefore no warning for low PAS fluid (VAG don't care!).

I would re-check the brake fluid level before you go too far into this problem. There is a strainer in the filler neck which makes the actual level difficult to see. Try filling the reservoir with the correct brake fluid until the gauze is just covered.

I'll have another look, BTW, which brake fluid is recommended for these cars? Will ordinary Dot5 suffice???

The fluid recommendation is written on the reservoir cap.

Well guys,I've topped up the fluid, and while I was stripping the car to fit a cv joint last night I found that the connector for the brakepad wear sensor thing was cracked and upon turning to the right, may have come loose enough to cause the ECU to think it was disconnected. Will go for a test drive soon and test out.....
