Biodiesel in superb

Featured Replies

Hey guys.

Was just wondering if any body is running there superb on home made biodiesel,if not is it ok to run the PD engine on this.

The reason i ask is that brotherinlaw has asked if i would like to go halves on a biodiesel kit (about £500 each). The kit would pay for itself in less than a year so i am thinking about it if it were a viable option.:)

Plenty of info on here. Have a search

biodiesel cannot be used in the 2 ltr tdi engine with the particulate filter.

My superb is a 52 plate 1.9tdi pd 130 with 96k on the clock so well out of warranty.

The kit is from green fuels and converts WVO to biodiesel before filling car up,its not one of the kits that you fit to the car with heaters and such like, and then pour WVO in the tank.

What about lube for the pump??? is it ok or could u use diesel cetane booster as such like???.

Do the people that supply the kit say that it's capable of refining WVO into something that could pass EN590 (from memory). After all if you're investing £1000 in a chemistry set, you'd hope that they can guide you a little on the results.

If it has a DPF fitted then no it will just screw it up.

If you look at the previous threads then you will get the information your looking for

Would a 2005 1.9 Tdi be ok to run on Bio Diesel ?

It all depends whether your "Bio Diesel" meets consistently all of the requirements of the Bio fuel specified by VAG. As I have been involved in fuel testing as a part of my job, I can tell you that testing it is not a cheap job - completely out of range for a single user.

Steer very well clear of any "homebrews" unless you want to wreck a perfectly good (and generally tolerant) Bosch fuel system.

rotodiesel.
