03 Superb stalk controls for aftermarket HU

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently replaced the Skoda audio headunit with an aftermarket one to enable me to use my ipod and play MP3s. The problem I have is the techy who installed it (at the local Halfords) claimed he was unable to get the steering wheel controls working and he wasn't quite sure why. He did use a stalk adapter, and after trying a second one after asuming the first was faulty, came to the conclusion that it just wouldn't work.

I'm just curious as to if you any of you guys have got the steering controls working on the Superb with an aftermarket HU, and if so if you could point me towards which adapter you found to work.

I'm guessing that either it won't ever work, he just didn't have access to the right part, or this headunit is just plain incompatible with the controls on the Superb.

The details are:

Car: Superb 03

Headunit: JVC KD-avx44

Stalk adapter that was tried: CTSSK001 Multistalk and CTJVClead stalk lead.

Any light anyone could shed on this would be greatly apreciated. Cheers.

Does it work at all ? On new superb, when I replaced the head unit with a JVC, those buttons that select a song, for example, work, but volume doesn`t.

There is a possibility that all of those after-market-adapters just don`t work.....:rotz:

AFAIK, once you take out the factory head unit/MFD1, then the steering controls become useless.

Ok, ta guys. In response to Skoda-Man, neither the up/down or volume control work. I guess I'll just leave it as is and stop chasing it. Cheers.
