Faulty EGR ???

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have been checking over the car in recent weeks and have found a large amount of tar, crap & oil residue in the inter cooler pipework and inlet maifold.

the car is an 05 2.0TDI Elegance Estate 120K miles

the engine runs crap on idle (very lumpy)

it had a Turbo and EGR at 78k couple of years ago

I am considering fitting an egr bypass pipe and need to know of any pitfalls, issues or anyone with good knowledge that can help me out with what is best to buy. there also seems to be some cases where you can turn down the EGR can this be done on the OCTY 2 tdi's?

Scott

Could be problematic. Do a search, there was a thread recently about fitting a catch tank to retain the gunk from the breather system. What you've found is normal though, and characteristic of an engine with EGR.
