These cars are very robust and reliable and as part of the VAG group, parts are plentiful and reasonably priced. If it is running fine, it has good service history then no reason to doubt it won't stay that way.

You will read about coil packs sometimes playing up. Annoying tailgate design that allows water to run into the boot. Front anti roll bars corroding, but these are not real doom issues.

Happy motoring..

Cheers gents , much obliged

one of the best things you can invest in as a VAG owner would be a cheap Ebay cable and free version of VAGCOM as reading fault codes is expensive at the dealers.

Cheers all, did end up purchasing said beast am very impressed! However I have one slight niggle. I keep getting a the EML coming on and PO441 stored something to do with purge flow valve etc. Code clears only to reappear a few days later usually in traffic. There are no perceivable symptoms, loss of power or anything other than the light itself , should i be concerned , any ideas ??

Cheers all

Vin

IIRC the purge valve is on the top of the charcoal canister on the front left of the engine bay, it should make a clicking noise if it's working correctly so have a listen (you can also feel it pulsing if you touch it with your finger) and if it's not working then it shouldn't be too dear to replace.

strange you say that bud, I found the hose to the valve disconnected and can only assume was nt fitted back since cambelt change ? Is now connected and clicking like a goodun! Will wait and see if the light stays out!!!

Cheers
