Uncomfortable drivers seat

Featured Replies

I have found the driver's seat quite uncomfortable, it causes a bad ache down my right thigh and buttock after 15 minutes drive. I have tried every position of both the seat (lumbar and back rest angle) and steering column, with no success.

Being the "comfort" modeI (ha ha) the cloth seats have no real squab tilt adjustment, just a height adjustment that causes a slight squab angle change, since it's pivots at the front.

I have had very limited success with a Halfords back and seat insert that I fold together and place far back on the squab before sitting on it.

BTW, I am 5ft 10 in height and have a stocky built.

I have similar experience to you (mine is from lower back pain though).

I initially replaced my front seats with Audi A6 (electrically adjustable) leather seats to the front (that happen to be for sale) which solved my problem.

I have now moved on to a Recaro Style seat, which is not quite as comfortable but matches the other seats better.

Are all the seats still for sale ?

Can you give me an estimate of the time/skill needed to swap the seats/panels.

Where did you get the electrical power from to drive the seat motors ?

What about any seat belt pre-tensioners/airbag trigger mechanism ?

yes they are

only the front seats will fit a superb, they would take about an hour from start to finish

i had a 12v feed from an installed phone car kit that was no longer being used, otherwise a fused supply from the fuse box would be ok

what about any seat belt pre-tensioners/airbag trigger mechanism ?

there are no pretensioners, the airbag plugs will need swapping over from your current seats

I have a private forum email to you to discuss this further.

Do the seats have lumbar support adjustment ?

Woops, just spotted the lumbar support description in your sale link above, sorry.

Instead of spending mega money replacing the seats, you can just lift the front of the seat by ca25mm using a steel plate of 7mm-10mm thickness. DIY job or most metal workshops will do it under stlg20.

I posted a thread on this many years ago here:

Nowadays, I just use the angle plate from this setup, no distance spacers. There's a good chance that it is the tilt angle is what makes you uncomfortable.
