Dual antenna input on Columbus/RNS 510

Featured Replies

Hi there

Does anyone know why there are two antenna inputs on the columbus navigation?

I have read about FM/AM and also that there should be two tuners build in, one for radio and one for traffic messages.

What's the thruth?

And if it's for FM/AM which one is for what?

Greetings from Denmark

If you do a seach on this theres plenty around but just to summerise what I have been told or found out:-

There's three aerial inputs to the back of the unit. Two white FAKRA connectors for FM / AM (there's a possible splitter group buy to get one cable to do both) and one blue FAKRA cable for GPS. I *THINK* the FM FAKRA connector is the innter of the two white ones.

You can get ropey GPS through the FM aerial FAKRA and that also carries (via FM) TMC. However you will not get AM on that connector.

Hope this helps.
