the only way to get the power to that is k04 conversion. but to make it competertive you will need coilovers kw3 etc polybushed and lsd fitted to get the power down etc etc with the k04 and remap you should be in the 260 to 270 bhp brcket..

this = very expensive :o

list of parts for you

lsd diff

clutch and flywheel

ko4 turbo

new downpipe

3inch maf

s3 injectors

k04 tip pipe

k04 exhaust mannifold

frontmount intercooler

polybushed allround

coilovers

uprated recirc valve

boost pipes uprated

custom remap

uprated discs and pads

this is of the top of my head im sure there is more

cost lots and lots

I can't help at all but let me know if you race at Snetterton at any point as I'd love to come down and watch.

thanks for the list, i have allready orded my leda suspension, poly bush`s, roll cage, team dynamic wheels, seat, fire extinguisher, dead switches, if i do the ko4 conversion do you think i could get this done for less than £3000, and as soon as the fixtures come out for next year i`ll post the dates on hear. thanks again daz car 66.;)

yes mate you should be able to do the conversion for about 2k with lsd in gearbox aswell i might be able to get you a full k04 turbo install bear with me i will pm you tomoz to let you know prob around £600 for the lot:thumbup:

only a maybe though:thumbup:

I hope you'll be doing a build thread on this mate, I'd LOVE a roll cage for my Octy :D

What wheels did you go for?

Get a RARB on it as well

And might be worth fitting a swirl pot

And an oil cooler

Please do a build thread!!! :D

I like the basic idea, but I'm not sure you'll ever get an Octy competitive with a Golf 4 using the same engine, brakes and tyres. There's one basic reason for that; the Octy is about 100kg heavier!

Ken is right about the extra weight, probably due to the boot! Is the VAG trophy also going to have S3s, Leon Cupras as if it does it could get interesting.

Well a Mk1 vRS hatch is 'only' 86kg heavier than a Mk4 180bhp 5dr Golf GTi, so you'll still be competitive as long as you out-handle them. Or just hide some fat mates in the back of the other cars!

You could always just make your car light as hell anyway. Plastic side and rear windows, carbon bootlid, doors and bonnet. If you get a decent rollcage welded in you could even chop the floor and roof out.

Sounds like an awesome project this, should be fun. Do what Westallc said!

Oh and get Briskoda to sponsor you.....

Who is going to go racing with a 5-door car if there's a 3-door version of the same shell?

Who is going to go racing with a 5-door car if there's a 3-door version of the same shell?

Someone with a 5-door car.

Or someone with a door fetish! ;)

According to Parkers the 3dr 180GTi weighs the same as the 5dr anyway! Surely that's completely wrong!

The doors on a 3dr GTI are huge and very heavy. It may be due to that.

As for making the Octavia competative, I don't see why not. The Octavia is far more compossed than the GTI, I've done possibly 1000 miles in a Golf with a similar spec to my vRS and it is far more skittish and nervous.

I'm not into BTCC but don't they race Integras and Civics?

Also, Regal ran a 4dr Golf in a VW Cup which I think won the series.

Go for it mate, with the knowledge this forum offers I'm sure you can surprise a few people.

hi again, im racing a 5 door because my friend smashed his and i bought it for £500. very light rear smash, broken suspension etc which im changing anyway. i collect the car within a couple of weeks so yes i`ll post pics on my progress, im hopeing to have it completed before feb 2010 so i`ll come on one of your track days. yes i will be against seat cupra`s , vw golf mk 1,2,3,4,5, leon`s, audi 80`s, vento`s, old slick 50`s , and seat & vw cup cars, so there will be alot of good cars on the grid and the class A is vertually unrestricted, so there will be brit cars etc pushing 400bhp, but no 4wd aloud. im hopeing to stay in class C which means little mods but they havnt finalised the regs yet, i would realy like to go down the ko4 route and run at 270bhp but that might push me into class B and i will be up aginst the lighter more powerfull cars so i`ll see. the wheels iv chose are team dynamics 1.2 black 18 x 8, does any one have any ideas for my brakes, id like to fill my wheels with disc and use 8 pot calipers if poss, would the brakes off a rs4 work or would they to much, i have so many ideas going off in my head i just need to get it done . thanks for all the replies and i`ll keep checking this forum when i can get my lap top off my daughter. daz car 66

does any one have any ideas for my brakes

There was a post on here recently about Lambo brakes, they are not as expensive as they sound, budget alternative to Brembos basically the company supplies the caliper mounts and then you source the calipers yourself which are apparently fitted to loads of cars like BMW 7 series etc. (as well as the Lambos)
