Service now

Featured Replies

I wanted to see how long it was before my Superb was due a service so I pushed the button and it said 'service now'.

I'd always thought that 'service now' came up in the central display between speedo and rev counter when a service was due and the car was started. I can't quite make sense of this in the handbook although it seems to confirm that I should be getting a 'service now' message.

Can anyone clarify this for me? At the moment on startup I get a message telling me to apply the footbrake before putting into drive - or something like that.

Thanks

J

How many miles since the last service?

Are you sure you are following the correct procedure?. For example in my octy, if I do it wrong it says "Service now" but do it right and the correct data is shown.

if it really is "Service now" then everytime you start your car you will see a spanner on the display for a few seconds.

No spanner and the last service was 10k miles ago in March 08. On that basis I know it shouldn't be ready for a service but the handbook says depress the right hand button of the 2 on the dial array and hold whilst you turn on the ignition. That's when I get service now and I think its the right sequence to get the sevice detail. It should either show miles to service or service now.

I'm having one anyway but I was just concerned that I get the service warning in future. That's why I appreciate ther input.
