one day the engine management light came on then the next day the traction control light was on and dont switch of. the car still runs perfect

I don't really understand why. All I do know is that for some reason a broken maf or if you unplug it, it disables the ASR.

Yep, I had this too. When my MAF was bust the "traction control" light was on.

I think it's to do with traction can't work properly without the Maf's input.
