Yet another EBAY fmic fitted :)

Featured Replies

Hi

Thanks to all that have posted on the ebay fimc threads, I studied your pics and threads and it made the fitting really simple and straight forward.

I finished it on monday and im really pleased, the car makes quite a loud whoosing noise through the alloy pipes which at first I tohught was a leak but i checked and all the hoses were tight and hadnt moved.

Its now feels stronger in each gear and it keeps pulling where as before the turbo felt like it dropped off slighlty. This was mainly noticable in 5th.

Im wondering if it should have a different map on it now? Will it run ok with the first map I had on it which was making 223 hp? Im going to take it back to the rolling road and see if the curve is slightly smoother at the top end now.

Anyway, thanks to everyone who has helped, Im really pleased.

Matt

P.S. If your thinking of doing it, its not really that hard and only takes around 5-6 hours and it also looks great.

Nice one glad you like it, any pics?

I have a few on my phone, Im going to take some on the camera later on and get them on here.

Did you get a custom map on yours? What other engine moda did you have?

What's the cost involved?

Have you noticed any lag?

I only had a stage one map on mine with turbo back exhaust and filter. You could now up the boost a little with a custom map due to lower inlet temps. I had planned to go custom but could not afford to.

So you bought a new car instead

I know the feeling though, so many things I want to do but have hit a financial brick wall where I work (seem to be going backwards?)

Hi, it cost £198 for all the bits, a guy at work very kindly sorted out the beading on the pipes for me but i beleive there are ways and means of doing it with a pair of mole grips lol (the guy who did my beading is on here but dont know his username)

There is some more lag but on very slight....and its much stronger when it spools now.

Id reccomend it, i really enjoyed the little project. Got a little squeak every so often where the pipe must be rubbing on the bottom of the bumper slightly so ill wip it off this w/e and sort that out.

Ill have to see if I can afford a custom map....a little more boost would be nice....

Where's the pictures then? :D

SWMBO didn't want me spending anymore money on the old car but didn't mind me getting a newer one. Besides with just a remap on the Mk2 it will be faster than with all the mods on the MK1 :).

Get them pics up!

Good on you for getting It sorted:thumbup: Not a bad job Is It;)

:wrthless:

Sorry, couldn't resist

welcome to the tight-*** DIY club buddy
