3T0 Columbus unit for Octavia vRS FL?

I need some advice please....

I have an Octavia vRS FL with Maxidot and a OEM BT unit 729D type (not fitted yet). I would like to fit a Columbus but my preferred supplier only has a 3T0 unit at the moment. He tells me that his 3T0 version is reprogrammed for an Octavia II so it works the same as a 1Z0 version. Am I better off waiting until I can get an 1Z0 unit or will a 3T0 version work with the Maxidot and BT?

Any advice & comments appreciated...

FYI

I received the following info from a couple of guys on VWnavi.com

You need 3T0 unit, it will work in Octavia II FL without any modifications.

1Z0 (or modified 3T0) is only for pre-facelift Octavia II.

3T0 unit is for Superb and Octavia FL , dashboard white light, from 11/2008

1Z0 unit for Octavia 2004-2008 November, green light dashboard
