Car Radio

Featured Replies

I hava an Octavia 1.9 TDI and every now and then my stereo seems to like blow then comes back on again. The other day it was working and when i got back in the car the stereo didn't work for the rest of the day. The next morning it was working again.

Yeserday the stereo was working but I got out the car for about 10 mins and when I restarted the car again the stereo didn't work again. All functions are working like lights are on, etc but no noise and when I press CD it says no CD even though there is a CD in there. It is still not working this morning.

Does anyone know what the problem is.

if it comes back on , and works, it seems like the wiring ,connections, and /or fuse needs checking first. You could hook up a small 12 volt bulb on the radio supply ,when you are going on a longish run. May be a dry soldered joint in the radio. remove the radio, with it on, and tap the front ,and top to see if you can make it come on and off .

los - I think I have the same problem as you (or similar).

Mine's a 2002 Octavia 1.9TDi. I have intermittent loss of sound, even though the radio is all powered up. The cassette player winds tapes fine. And I can change and "play" CDs - with no sound whatsoever - I'm not getting the "No CD" message that you're seeing.

To begin with, the sound disappeared for a day or a few days and then came back for a few days, but in the last couple of months, the radio has only worked once - for a period of about one minute! I've had the radio out, fiddled with all the connections on the back, but have never managed to work out what the problem is.

I'd be very interested to know whether you have got to the bottom of what is wrong with yours.
