octy keys annoying or what ?

Featured Replies

the annoyingly badly made silver thing at the end of my skoda keys fallen off again

so I cant hang my house keys on the car key so I lose them all the time...

you're probably familiar with this scenario...

in the past I've managed to glue the loop back on the key but it wont take it any more - too much old glue in the holes

anyone have a work around/alternative ?

(skoda want 70 quid for a new key which I'm not gonna pay)

cheers ed

If it's a flip key, I have in the past successfully drilled a small hole through the end on a corner and used a small cable tie to make a loop.

You'll need to be very careful to drill the hole where any of the internals are in the way.

Thanks

yes think drilling without knowing where the internals are may be a little challening for my level of diy skills

Don't think I've ever heard of that problem before

So you mean the silver bar at the bottom of the key, that you can attach a keyring or other keys to? I have the same thought- pick up another key from eBay and swap the key blade and immobiliser chip. There's a massive thread on SCN about how to do, if you need help. As it's popular with people wanting to upgrade to a 'posh' flip key :)

With a lump like a VAG flip key, I don't want anything else attached to it anyway!

Guess who's great-grandfather was a tailor (and footballer, but that's not important right now) and it shows sometimes!

Thanks all.

I also got the replacement part for £ 7.00 and then with this link showing me how to install it.

How to change the battery in a VW Key FOB

Now all sorted.
