Removing Front grille + dismantle

Featured Replies

I'm really sorry If some has alrady done the HOW TO THREAD but I am currently trying to make my chrome part black, and cannot figure out how to dismantle it without breaking it.....does anyone know how to di it or know where the how to guide is?!

There are tabs all around the edges - about 7 IIRC.

Open the bonnet and prise them open fro the back using a large screwdriver. I did the ones around the badge first and worked from there.

Hope that helps!

There are 4 along the bottom, 4 along the top but also 3 around the back of the badge.

I started with the 3 around the badge, then the top 2 on the right, then top 2 on the left. Then the 4 across the botton starting at one end.

Badge removal, cut off melted plastic tabs then used a hairdrier to warm the back of the surround under the badge then carefully prised off the badge.

Hope this helps

John

Cheers! Done it now, just incase anyone is interested....I have made mine black by using black vinyl (just buy a windscreen topper £2.70 from ebay) The finished product is good (and non-perminant if I ever wish to take it back to standard)

From a distance it looks extremely good, but when you get up close you can see a few imperfections so i am going to have another go when I have a bit more spare time (one windscreen topper will do a grille twice, so a second attempt thrown in for free)

Hope this helps!

Sounds good! Got any pics?
