Service intervals and what's included?

Featured Replies

The service indicator has appeared on dash of my 2003 101k vrs. What is supposed to be replaced at this service? Oil filter, air filter, plugs???

I've done a search but can't find out. Thanks all

I think Spark plugs are every other service so see what you had last time.

It is all in the manual, but if you're going to have it serviced you will have to ask what is being done.

My car didn't come with a manual unfortunately. I'll prob be doing the service just interested as to what is due. Oil main thing of course

What servicing is needed now depends to an extent on what was done in the past and when. I recommend that you buy or borrow a Haynes manual for the Octavia since it lists maintenance schedules in the front.

Right from my MK I manual:

Every inspection service:

- Engine oil/filter

- Check engine for leaks (visually)

- Fault code check

- Visually inspect airbags for external damage

- Check antifreeze strength and top up if required (G12)

- Check condition of exhaust

- Visually inspect brake system for leaks and damage

- Check thickness of brake pads

- Brake fluid level inspected

- visual checks of gearbox, driveshafts and CV joints

- Inspect and clear plenum chamber

- Sunroof: operation inspected and rails lubricated

- Inspect battery

- Inspect sealing boots for steering, knuckle ball joints inspected for leaks and damage

- Track rod ends inspected for play, looseness and sealing boots checked.

- Tyres inspected for tread depth, wear pattern. Inspect tyres for correct inflation

- Door check straps and catch hook for bonnet lubricated

- All switches, electrical components, indicators and other controls inspected for proper operation

- Windscreen or headlight wiper and washer system inspected for proper operation and wiper blades inspected. Washer fluid level checked and topped up.

- Service interval display reset

- Headlights inspected and adjusted if required

- Visual inspection of underbody seal and paintwork for damage

- oil level in manual gearbox checked and topped up if required

- Dust and pollen filter replaced

- Road test/final inspection

The additional items follow in further posts

In addition every 60'000km/40,000 miles:

- Inspect ribbed V belt and tension

- Replace spark plugs

- Fluid level of power steering checked

- Air filter replaced and housing cleaned.

In addition every 90'000km/60,000 miles:

- Inspect toothed belt on Petrol engines (4 Cyl)

(note this has almost certainly changed to a lower mileage or 4 years, whichever is sooner. Check with your dealer)

In addition every 120'000km/80,000 miles:

Missed this out as it's all cambelts and i know at least some have changed

In addition every 180'000km/120,000 miles:

Missed this out as it's all cambelts and i know at least some have changed

In addition every 2 years

- Brake fluid: Change

In addition every 4 years

- Replace air filter if car has done less than 60,000km/40'000 miles in 2 years

In addition every 5 years

- Battery of spare siren

In addition every 15 years

- Belt tensioner with seat belts and modules of air bag system: Have replaced by skoda dealership.

Changing of lambda probe

- The change interval is dependant on the lead content of the fuel in the particular country. For this reason ask your skoda dealer.

Obviously don't take this as gospel, this is just me typing the bits i think apply to your car.

All done at your own risk and i can't be held responsible for any of the information given etc etc.
