Misfire when warm

Featured Replies

Ok im finally getting down to the the faults on my car that have suddenly sprung uop.

Apart from a faulty drivers wheelbearing and possibly my DMF causing rattling and knocking i also have a severe misfire issue.

Its fine when cold but once warmed up and you floor it the car will stutter and surge and theres no hardly any power, this can also cause the engine light to flash. ease off and its ok until a point when pressing the pedal and it starts again.

Vagcom shows random cylinder misfire, all coil packs were changed a few months ago so i dont think its that. Spark plugs were suggested as the cars on 76k and the plugs were changed at 40k, any other suggestions?

I know you've change the coil packs, but it is exactly the same issues that I had. I identified the faulty coil pack by stopping as soon at the problem happened, eliminated the faulty unit by unplugging them in turn and replaced the coil pack there and then. It hasn't happened since. I guess it could be possible that one has failed?

If the car has done 36k on the same set of plugs I'd change them first. They're about due anyhow, so you are not losing anything by fitting a new set.
