Retro Fitting Courtesy light switch in door pillar ?

Featured Replies

I was thinking Today :D (Dangerous)

With all the interior light Woes caused by the failing of the Door/Locking Micro switch control units, Resulting in No interior lights coming on with the door open Etc.

Has any body fitted a good old fashioned Door pillar courtesy light switch in the drivers door pillar.

If possible, This would be a real cheap/cost effective Fix for what is an expensive problem out of warranty, I would be perfectly happy for my interior lights to come on when i opened the door :D

Is the centre front interior light Earth switching Etc ?

It might not be that so dont assume, does the light warning buzzer work? I know 100% that it did and the door warning light came up on the dash, that being the case the catch works.

Hi Ross.

The interior light has illuminated twice with the drivers door open, Once closed & locked or re-opened it has not worked again, It also does not illuminate when you unlock the car or turn the Ignition off Etc & remove ignition Key.

The door open warning light illuminates with the ignition on.

Just of too check if the lights on buzzer works :D

Would a faulty courtesy light cluster cause this & also stop the puddle lights illuminating ? Although it works manually from the slider switch ..
