mk1 octavia vrs turbo probem

Featured Replies

i have a 55 plate mk1 vrs estate.its only done 23k.when i accelerate the car has all the power but as the car takes off it seems to miss a beat constantly as i put the power on.skoda says the turbo is possibly faulty as nothing else is showing up on their diagnostics.the car has just been put back on the road after 2 years as owner died and i bought the car from the widow.had timing belts and water pump done serviced with new fuel filter.does anyone have any ideas as skoda want 1300 quid for a turbo

At a guess .................

Boost leak. Doesn't always show on diagnostics, you need a VCDS scan and a boost log really too see whats happening when you boost.

Could also be Maf on the blink

As said above, it could be a MAF problem, I had a problem that I thought was the turbo going or a split hose, it seemed like it wasn't boosting and was a little bit juddey at low revs when cold, it didnt show anything up on the VCDS so I put a new MAF on and all was fine.

Don't go buying new turbo yet until it is proved to be at fault. Does it smoke? The hesitation could be down to a number of things not directly turbo related, especially as it has been sitting for some time.

Spark plugs, coil packs could all be a issue including the items already metioned.

Agreed don,t buy a new turbo because highly unlikely it is that.Typical of Skoda to say it is but basically they don,t know either(shame).

Hi Guys,

I have an 04 VRS from new with just over 60K now. Its full service history and I have the same problem particularly when cold but only on light or part throttle. Still goes well on full throttle.

You mention replacing the MAF and I was wondering what that is?

Thanks

Phil

the maf is the mass air flow meter, fits after the air box on the induction pipe to the turbo you cant miss it

Try a throttle body clean it only costs a couple of pounds for the gasket and about 20mins to do. Certainely sorted out my rough running issues, car was holding back with random flat spots before
