Interior light feed.

Featured Replies

I'm in the process of fitting some led foot well lighting. Would love to know if there is any convenient location to tap into the interior light other than the actual light itself. Preferably somewhere under the dash/near fuse box? I'd like the lights to come on with the interior light (when car is unlocked door opened etc) Many thanks!

I have ordered some LED strips for just that same job. I will have a rummage around this weekend and see what I can find. There must be a conveniant place to tap into.

I wired mine into the wiring in the door so they come on when the door is opened.

My thinking is, the feed for the interior light must come from the convenience unit behind the dash. So it should just be a matter of tracing back which pin it is? Or is it not as simple as that? Rob, when you wired your rear courtesy lights to the front center light, where were the original connections coming from that power the main light? Also, after undoing the two screws underneath the light cover, does the whole unit just pull out? I had a go earlier but was pulling quite hard and nothing was budging. I gave up not wanting to damage the headlining.

When I fitted an Alarm that required an input from the interior light (Octavia 1.4 2001) I had major problems. When you measure the voltages at the light bulb holder all sorts of things were going on depending on whether it was the light turning on or dimming off etc.... Didn't seem to be as simple as live and earth. In the end I gave up and unclipped side windscreen trim (easy) and ran a twin cable from the actual light down to a relay - that sorted it!
