Rear wiper no longer working

Featured Replies

tried a search but not to much avail my rear wiper started making a right noise last week and today it has decideed not to work , are they easy to get of the octy estate and are they easy enough to dismantle and if i do take it off if the spindle is left on the car does it affect the mot it is due in jan and i done need a fail

Not part of the MOT. If its anything like the hatchback, whip off the back with some torx bits and get an old bowl ready to catch any water. Clear out the crud with some brake cleaner perhaps and regrease...it may work again for a while.

The only reliable fix is to replace the motor asm. The reason they play up is they start to allow water ingress that then buggers up the mechanism. This can be cleaned and sorted temporary but the motor will start to play up again. I repaired mine twice and gave up after that. Some folks have taken the motor asm off altogether and just fitted a bung instead.

Removal is very easy, remove wiper arm (13mm nut) remove plastic hatch, estate cover and then remove washer tubing and electrical connection plug and the 3 x 10mm nuts holding in motor asm.

Yep a careful tug. Mind your fingers though.

Not sue on the estate version but you may find that you leave a few metal clips on the plastic cover when you take it off. These will need to be refitted to the metalwork prior to refitting
