Squeaking/whirring fan

Featured Replies

Just started today, suspect its related to recent weather.

Basically it sounds like a squeaking belt or fan near drivers side light housing? Its intermittent at moment but rather loud.

Also happens with engine off but ignition on + aircon on/off so its unrelated to fan belt.

Any ideas?

It's not the headlight adjuster motor is it? Mine died last year and got very noisy.

Other than that I'd say just open the bonnet and find were the noise is coming from! It can only be a couple of things since you're saying it happens with just the ignition on.

I think I might have the same thing, probably just due to the cold, Mine started today also but mine isn't that loud.

Could be headlight adjust motor, will have a play about cheers.

If it's happening with the ignition on, but the engine not running, it can only be the headlight leveling motors, the cooling fans or the interior fan. My money's on the levelling motor too, but turn the the interior fan off, and have a look for turning fans before spending any money.

Thanks (and Bodge), it was indeed motor. Drivers now stuck in the right position thankfully. WIll have a look for a replacement on ebay - are they relatively easy to fit?

Cheers
