Wrong oil put in at service

Featured Replies

Despite checking with the garage in question last week regarding oil specs, went to pick the PD130 up this lunchtime from its oil/filter change, only to find that they've put "normal" 10/40 fully synth in, instead of 50501 PD oil.

They're changing the oil again this afternoon FOC. To give them credit they knew it was wrong the moment I brought it up, so there was no hassle getting it changed. Still it's another walk I could do without..... or then again, looking at my waistline, maybe I could do with it!!

Good spot!

direct cars a local used car mega store buy their oil in bulk from us and service every car they have on the pitch, in theory thats good until you find out they put 10w40 semi in everything irrelevant of what it is

A good enough reason to never buy a VAG car from them then i say

To the OP, yes mistakes do 'happen' - but it's the way they are dealt with which is important IMO, at least they did the correct thing

Agreed, I'm more than happy with the way it was dealt with.

Edit: Or at least I was. When I went to pick it up, I was told "of course, you don't really need that oil, but that's what you've asked for, so we've changed it". All brownie points that had been earned, down the drain. He really didn't want to hear that that PD should have the 505.01 oil (despite the fact that's what they put in - without me asking - last time it was serviced!)

I'd be giving them a wide berth in future - DIY then you know it's been done right.
