As above, I've been offered some cheap and was wondering if anyone has tried these? Would 225 45's be alright?

They're rated by most, including me, and if you've got 17" wheels they'll fit just fine

cool, I'll get them then. TBH I don't give my car too much stick so should get a bit more than 5k out of them hopefully.

Next question my car is still running 205 50 17's all round, should I leave the 205's on the front and put the 225 on the back? My car has some Nuxxus tyres on the front and I want to wear them out ASAP.

leave them on the front then mate, that will certainly wear them out.
