Central Locking Fuse - Help Request

Featured Replies

Can anyone let me know if it's s single fuse for the central locking and folding mirrors on a mk1, and the rating of said fuse / fuses please.

I just had to move the car on a customers car park, mirrors won't unfold and the central locking is dead off the fob and the key. I would just check my handbook BUT I took it out of the car yesterday when sorting out a rattle and then left it on the garage workbench ..... Doh!!!!

Hopefully it's just a fuse and nothing more sinister as I am anal about water ingress and checking the drains :)

Help me obi-wan .... your my only hope :)

Sheesh .... you lot are to slow .......... Superb drivers

Just downloaded the manual in PDF from Skoda so cancel the above alert :) I can't find anything in the manual about the folding mirrors though and mine has them ........ hang on ... I'm going in

I had this problem on my 54-plate Passat and it was indeed a fuse. There was no reference to the fuse in the manual or on the fuse card inside the fusebox.. In the end i pulled each fuse out and inspected it until I found a damaged one.

Sorry I can't help with the exact position or rating of the fuse, but I eventually discovered that mine had blown because of a bare wire at the boot light, shorting against the body.

Thanks Phil

This happened this morning, it's me being to quick on the boot release, I hit the boot release button almost simultaneously pressing the physical button on the boot and it stayed locked. I am guessing it's just the fuse then, will be heading out at lunchtime to find a car shop near Bridgend town centre as I don't fancy driving around with the mirrors folded in (mine has electric folding mirrors)

Ah well, that's sorted it out. a 10 amp fuse that's not documented in the manual that covers the Central locking / power folding mirrors / interior lights and electric windows. 10amp seems a bit weedy for all of that.

One day I will meet the person that writes the comedy fuse layout in the manual, or even produces the equally hilarious fuse location card in the fuse box.

I shall then beat them around the head until such a time that blood starts to drip from their ears.
