Heating / Cooling

Featured Replies

I have a 02 Octavia L&K estate with Climate Control, but I find the Climate Control slow to perform and will change temp, (usually after turning a corner) any ideas?

Does it need a service, can they be service, or is it a case of re gassing the Air Con.

Any thoughts??

I've got an Elegance, same age and Climatronic.

I find it can gain or drop air temp out the vents if you're going in and out of sunlight.

Hello Guys, just bought a skoda octavia elegance 2001, the climatronic does not work at all, checked fused. As a car mechanic I am useless but want to learn. Any advice is gratefully accepted.

Thanks

Tariq

The air conditioning parts of the system are disabled below 5C (by design, to stop ice buildup damaging the condensor).

So questions:-

1) Does the control panel light up correctly? Illustration in manual; there's a link to a searchable PDF version in the sticky posts at the top of the forum if you don't have a print copy. Skip the other questions if the answer to this is no, and go directly to VCDS (see the VAG-Com forum for a list of members who're willing to help in Northants)

2) Does the fan work? You should be able to hear this, at least on the higher speed settings.

3) Do you get hot air (above ambiant temp) from open vents?

4) Do the temperature up/down controls work?

5) Does the "demist" mode control work>

6) Have you tried just pressing the button marked "Auto" and letting it sort itself out? I did this, and rarely touch it other than going in and out of demist, or changing the cabin temperature setting.

Finally, if the problem is still that the air con doesn't work, I'd check Yellow Pages for an automotive aircon specialist, not a Skoda dealer.

An SDi Classic (base model) with Climatronic!?
