Hello all

I recently got a Roadhawk and am having issues powering it from the cigarette lighter socket - it does not look neat. I have no knowledge of car electrics beyond the very basics, but seem to think that somewhere there will be a switched live I could connect it to, Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

I'd see if you can get your hands on a Haynes, which will have proper circuit diagrams - you could probably get a second-hand one quite cheaply for Favorit...

Apologies all, forgot that my profile still has my Favorit in it - will amend that in a mo. The car in question is a 2001 Octy Estate

you could pick up a sw live from under the drivers side of the dash where the big nuts are with the power cables on. you need one marked 15 as the one marked 30 is perm live.

you will have to remove the kickpanel above the pedals to see them. on mine i got a twin cig socket and attached it to the side of the centre console

That was what i was trying to find a photo of!

If you use the YELLOW take off point (the one on the left) it will also be ignition fed (so the power will turn off when you remove the key)

I really want to find a switched live as our socket seems to be permanent and the Roadhawk then keeps on recording while I am away from the car, which is a bit pointless.
