Behind the Fuel Filler

Featured Replies

Hi,

Suspect the spillage / drain pipe that connects to the hole in the bottom the the rubber collar around the fuel filler has popped off whilst I was trying to unblock it.

It's that or I cleared it.. but don't know how to look under or to the back of the fuel filler to check.

So, yeah.. how do you get to the back of the furl filler? I looked in the boot behind the carpet and theres a bulk head in the way, can i get over the wheel arch and to it from the rear seat side?

Or do I need to jack the car up, take of the rear wheel and rear arch liner and go up to the back of it?

Either way, if the pipe has popped off where will all the water / spilt diesel now be running to? Luckily I'd just filled up so shouldn't be any spilt diesel before I've fixed it.

And finally (perhaps this should have been first) Is there even a pipe on the other side of that hole or does it just drain down and out of the wheel arch? and the "dunk" I heard what the blockage, and not a pipe?

I'm normally quite good at this stuff but recently it seems I fix one problem by creating another, DOH!

Thanks guys!

You can remove the filler complete with flap from the outside with one Torx screw, it just pulls out. emoticon-0100-smile.gif

There is a pipe, but it only dangles down a bit further so it can drain without damaging bodywork etc.

TOP MAN!

I looked all through the Haynes and they have NOTHING on the fuel filler.

Question now is, can I rescue the pipe through this hole or has it plummeted down to far?

Double DOH! lol ;)

If the pipe has fallen off its gone mate.

Can't imagine its more than a couple of pence from Skoda though, or get something suitable from a Motorfactors or Aquatic shop, its only about 50cm long, and about 3mm internal diameter.

Thanks Mate.

One last question (you'd have sooo many thanks if the button was still there).

When you say gone d'ya mean inside but non retrievable.. or gone it's fallen on the road?

I ask because the car not actually moved since I did it!

Unless its balanced on top of a pipe or the rear beam it will have fallen onto your drive... Pull the flap off and have a looksies. :)
