Defective central locking - Electric windows bizarre fault!

Featured Replies

My parents have a SLX (S reg 1999) Octavia and it developed a fault with the driver's door lock, so we used the passenger's door to unlock and lock the car until that gave up as well. We've reverted to locking with the boot lock.

Today, the car has developed another fault, when you lock the car the windows go down!

Does anyone have any ideas what would cause that?

Thanks!

Hi,I don't know if this will help, but on mine the remote locks/unlocks everything but the drivers door,so we have given up with the remote & use the key.

I discovered keep the key in too long (can'r remember if it's during locking or unlocking,& the Mrs has just taken the car so can't check), then all our windows go down too.

If you do it quick,it's fine,no windows move

the door lock switch contacts shot in both doors.

the door lock switch contacts shot in both doors.

I know they are both shot, the keys just go round and round except that the driver's door lowers the windows but doesn't attempt to unlock the doors.

The boot lock has only started to do this.

Unfortunately, its a model without remote control locking.

Thats called comfort control lol, its supposed to do that so that on hot days you can air the car quickly before you get in !

not being funny, but what with the cars value vs. a repair cost, plus the not-particularly-appealing to a thief factor, maybe best to just leave it unlocked, but don't leave anything valuable in it & hope for the best

And no paperwork, i.e. insurance papers/mot/driving license etc
