Columbus anomaly - Anyone else

Featured Replies

Today when I started my car and put in it reverse the parking sensor on the columbus was a full car not the rear of the car that I normally have.

I dont have full parking sensors so was surprised to see the full car.

The sensor lines that increase closer to an object were on the side of the full car on the display not appearing out the back.

Then I went into the phone menu and it had connected to my BB but no memory or phone book was visible.

On the MFD the phone book was fine,

When I got to my destination I turned off the car and restarted.

The reverse display on the columbus returned to normal and the phone book appeared ok again.

I havent touched the firmware and wonder if anyone else has any issues like this.,

I couldnt find any settings in columbus to do with sensors so dont know why it changed.

Probably the unit has just thrown a wobbler!!

it is nothing new, you will get used to it.

If you can get it to happen at your dealer then you will get a replacement , otherwise you will have to live with it cause they seem to behave when you go in to complain!!

Rogue electrons. That's the problem.

Sometimes my Columbus doesn't appear in the MFD. Shut down the car, and restart and there it is. Only happened a few times, but a reboot is always an option.

You would be surprised at the equipment I have had to remove the power from in order to get a full reboot. How about a Boeing 767 with a Flight Management Computers that weren't talking to each other. A problem that a simple re-rack didn't fix. Last resort was a complete shutdown (at the terminal) with 230 punters onboard. Powered the ship up again and all was well. Only happened to me once in 23 years flying the things, but it does happen.
