Key fob rings breakaway

Featured Replies

My rings (for want of a better word) on which one would put a key ring for other keys has snapped off on both my keys.

Surface area is so small that epoxy wouldn't do it.

So having experienced a 65 quid replacement charge for a Citroen key in the past (electronics shot - fixed it myself with a soldering iron) Can one simply take it apart and get a replacement (cheap) case?

Any ideas?

Thanx in advance

my one has done that lol,

my other is up at Gparents and is brand new never used lol, I just keep the keys off them as its not good for the ignition barrel to have weight on the key lol,

unsure about the fix,

I found a blank VW key on eBay with no circuit board and bought that and got a Skoda badge. Had to hack apart the old key to get out the imobliser chip out but apart from that a simple swap. I'll post likes when I get to a PC.

Make a search on here as this has come up before. There is a link on one thread to a company that sells just the part that has the fob loop on it.

Alternatively search on ebay. In a quick search I found this repair kit that does what you want. http://tinyurl.com/ygul7dh

Hope this helps,

Mike

2 3/4" x 1 1/4" x 5/8" - That's the size of the flip keyfob (just measured mine specially). Why would you want anything more than a split-O ring to hang it up by on a lump like that?

I bought a spare un-cut key and just used the end with the remote on my old blade, coded it too the using the key in the door method .
