hi, driving my mk1 octy vrs today and the red oil can flashed up so i pulled over to check the level and thats ok, any ideas?

Red is Pressure iirc

it only flickered on an off couple of times never done it before if the pump was failing would it not be on all the time, would it not just be a sensor fault

Best case scenario would be just the sensor playing up. Other causes of low oil pressure are likely to be either a blocked oil pick up pipe or as already mentioned possibly the oil pump is struggling. First thing to do would be get it to a garage to check the oil pressure for you and go from there.

how many oil pressure sensors is there? and can vag com trace the pressure? where is the pressure switch located? i can see 3 sensors near the oil filter area

Blocked oil strainer.

Same symptoms as yours and found oil strainer in sump was blocked. Suggest you only use it to drive to the garage.

so you dont think its the oil pump then dude, ill take the sump of tomorrow and have alook.
