Fuel/Oil leak problem

Featured Replies

Hi all

Would appreciate suggestions as to what is going on here :

Car is an '04 Octy VRS with 88,000 on and in generally good repair

Recently had a cambelt, water pump and service by a local indie. Alongside I've had the ECU light on for a while which has shown up a couple of codes ( 1273, 1296?) but not seemed to alter running a great deal so I've let it develop.

After the work, when up to temp and in traffic, idle has been very unstable and smooth driving impossible, there is also a strong smell of petrol :(

This has happened 3 times and the last time it actually stalled. Back to the mechanic who cleared all the codes and it has run fine but the I have noticed the leak coming behind the front drivers arch liner of a mixture of fuel and oil, probably better described as oily petrol

Mechanic said he can't think of anything he may have disturbed during the service but is going to investigate this morning

I know the charge cooler? is in that area and can get choked up but can petrol get into it

I think mechnic said 1296 was an O2 sensor and may cause overfuelling ???????????

ETA - Its not showing any codes at the mo but is still leaking ??

Anybody think of anything it may be or had it before ?

Will report back any findings

Thanks in advance

Simon
