Ticking noise

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have readen many ticking noise related topics from here and none of them seem to give a clear answer (is there any?)

I was wondering the following issue,

When my Skoda (Octavia II RS TFSI -07) is on idle (either clutch down or no) there is a strange ticking noise, coming from the right (my car is left driven) of - it seems - under the dashboard.

The noise on outside is hardly hearable but it SEEMS to come from under the car somewhere. Sometimes it is louder, sometimes it is weaker and sometimes there is no noise at all.

It sounds like some resonance or something but I dont quite think it is... When accelerating even a bit, the noise totally disappears. You dont hear it clearly if the Climatronic is on or

the radio, but is there sometimes when running idle. Maybe it has something to do with some solenoid or something? I think also (just a guess) this has something to do with

the outside temperature (now has been something like -20 celsius out there) but that doesn't also seem to be the final answer. The car is running perfectly and there is nothing

strange about it otherwise. Am I being a paranoid or is this just a normal feature. It is not so bad but if someone could give me a explanation of a better guess than my own :)

Thanks!
