Urgent.. Change of coolant - Superb 03

Featured Replies

How do I drain the AZM engine completly??

Find the lowest point of the coolant system and pop a hose off, that or stab the

radiator with a screwdriver :)

If you can disconnect the engine coolant pipes, the best way to "drain" an engine is to run a garden hose through it until the water runs clear. Most engines have a drain plug somewhere on the block but most are either seized solid or blocked with sludge.

When you have clear water running through the engine (do the radiator and heater matrix at the same time) restore all of the pipe connections, add the correct amount of G12 to give a 50% final mix (look up engine coolant capacity) and then top up with water. Vent the system using the hole in the heater hose stub at the bulkhead - one of the hoses pulls back to reveal a vent hole.

I find the system is much easier to vent if you unscrew the header tank mountings (leave the hoses connected) and elevate the tank. This gives a positive head of coolant and gives a reasonable flow through the hole.

Ha ha.. "stab the radiator" :D that's a winner..

Tried the lowest point (removed the sensor in the bottom hose close to the rad. Only got about 1L out.

I'll try that... My engine system is an AZM and so far I just can't get more out that aprox 1L.

But thanks for the quick reply;-)
