Summer started early here in Malta and yesterday I used the air con in my Octavia,as soon as I switched it on it smelt really bad.When I stopped and re started the car with the aircon in the on mode the windscreen misted up in a few seconds and the aircon still emitted that nasty egg smell.What could be wrong ?.I've been suggested to spray some a/c cleaning agent and replace the pollen filter.Any tips ?.

Bugs live in the inner working of the AC and cause the smell. Whoever suggested the cleaner and a new filter was right IMO.

Personal opinion here but I would suggest the "bomb" type AC cleaner you set off in the car with the AC working should be used with the old filter out and before you put the new one in. Also have the Recirculation button on.

From my time living in the Gulf, I noted that many people just sprayed cheap aftershave into the vents!
