Clutch slip, but not all the time!

Featured Replies

A few weeks ago the clutch on my PD130slipped once then it never done it again till this week, the thing is its giving the symtoms of the clutch slipping ie revs raising faster than the speed of the car but now it seeams fine!!!

Is there anything else that will cause this?

Because ive booked it in to have it done tomorrow but i dont want to waste £650 if its okay!

I mean you can put you foot on the brake and stall the car so it must be okay!

So what do i do have it done or leave it?

Advice please!! lol

Dan

I drove with a slipping clutch for about 10 months. It was slipping when I bought the car so who knows how long it had been doing it. Point is, you can drive around carefully until it completely dies :giggle: but for sure it's not going to get better so you'll have to do it eventually.

Also 650 pounds seems a bit expensive to me, but I don't know the UK prices.

Yeah i know they will last a while after they start slipping but i cant really risk it due to doing a lot of miles per month!

Plus the car has been re mapped so its more likely to wear whats left, quicker lol

650 is about right

30 odd for the concentric slave

250 for the DMF

130 for the clutch kit and i think the labour is 191 well thats what hes quoting me

Bloody dual mass fly wheel you wouldve thought that VW wouldve leant thier lesson by now and stopped using them!

And apprently after speaking to Skoda the new shape cars are even worse for them!!

Which begs the question if Skoda do a solid flywheel conversion for the 1U Octavia why put them on the new Octy?

Sounds like a money making thing to me!!!!!
