Temp Gauge...Octavia MK1, 2.0 petrol

Featured Replies

Hi...I have a 2.0 petrol, 2002 Octavia, which until recently the temp gauge always sat at the 1/2 way mark when warm. Now it sometimes moves from 1/4 to 1/2 (when it normally would be at 1/2). More recently, it has stayed at 1/4, yet the engine have been warnmed through. I used the heater in the car and put it on cold to see if the gauge would rise, but it stayed the same. This morning, the car temp gauge is back at 1/2 (normal). The car han't lost any coolant, and the levels are fine. Wondering whether it is the thermos, or temp sensor. Any idea? If it is the sensor, how easy to change, and how do you do that, and where is is located? Cheers. Don

Thermostat ..........

I can't help you anymore than that though as I have no idea where it is on your engine.

I do know we have had a spate of them going on the vrs model lately, mine included, it was easy enough too change on mine.

Thermostat mate, located on front of engine underneath and slightly to the side of the alternator.
