Questions with pics

I'm new, I have much to learn so I'm asking questions:

What is the part/function of the pipe ringed in red?

Do the shocker and spring combo look OEM (shocker looks a bit past it's best)

Just being going around the car making a parts list, what's urgent, what isn't etc... rear brakes are squeaking but have meat on so I'll leave them alone until I replace discs and upgrade the pads (DS2500 is the plan) and change fluid for 5.1

It looks like there is a powerflex bush on the rear gear box mount but curiously the n/s wishbone bushes feel worn and there's some play/knock coming from that area when hard cornering.

Still lovin it though!

That pipe ain't a standard part, some sort dv relocation pipe maybe ???

The shockers look a bit rusty, have you done the bounce test ?? If you have and they are ok then I would leve them until they pop

HTH

No idea about the pipe, but the damper looks ok, as long as you're happy with the level of damping control you've got.

The pipe looks like someone has had the DV relocated at some point and has then changed it back.

Divertor Valve Relocation Kit

As long as there is something tightly fitted in the end of that little pipe to stop any leaks you should have no trouble. This is what the original pipe would look like without the extra bits for a divertor valve relocation:

Thanks for the replies, there is a bit of metal in the hose held in place by the jubilee clip. I'll double check the seal as it may just be the reason for the CEL being illuminated!

There are 4 hose clips there which weren't on the original (the original being just a single hose with no joints) so if any one of them isn't tight it could be leaking boost.

You'll also need to take the engine cover off and check the diverter valve pipework near the back of the engine as the previous owner may not have put that back together correctly when they put it back to standard set-up.

Once you've got the plastic cover off, the standard DV sits under where the bulge on the plastic cover was. It should be hose clipped in to the large hose from the air filter box to the turbo. Then there is another hose which runs from the metal boost pipe at the back of the engine back into the side of the standard DV. Finally there should be a small vacuum hose stuck in the top of the standard DV. If any of these pipes isn't tightly secured you'll get a CEL light and a 17705 fault code.

I removed the cover and checked all the jubilee clips, they weren't very tight so I've nipped them all up.

Green circled hoses on left all tight.

Blue circle highlights some light abrasion but not leaking

Red circle (DV?) Tightend up two bigger clips, one on top was fine.

Yellow circle (N75?) clip case was loose even though connection was tight. Case fixed with cable tie.

I take it the CEL will remain on until it is reset? If the problem remains it will then re-illuminate after a certain period?

Cheers for the help on pointers, it is appreciated.

All looks ok!

Yeah the fault code needs to be cleared, then see if the CEL light comes back

Got a nice set of coil pack hold-downs there too by the looks of it!

I would state that in the past there has been a DV relocation kit on the car, the leftovers are the metal T bracket in your inlet pipe that was definately used to locate DV at front of engine. Also the thick pipe you circled in yellow to the left of your pic is not the standard pipe. As stated should be ok though if not leaking and tight
