I owned an 2002 Octavia 1.6 Elegance and i' m having a minor problem with my remote key. I changed battery several times but the distance from the car in order to operate the locking - unlocking is still 2 meters or less away from the car and sometimes under specific angle . My second key is working perfectly at a distance of 15 or more meters. Is there any solution without using the VAG-COM - VCDS cable or not?

You could buy a new remote control and program it in using the procedure in the hand book.

Ouch! That was painful. I wondering if there was salvation for the present remote control unit. It seems not!
