Octavia cigarette lighter light

Attention : If you don't use your car this might be of interest.

Due to usage of car phone chargers etc. in the cigarette lighter power terminal, the connector itself got broken in our car. The symptoms were:

- Hard to start after couple days @ parking lot

- Hard to start in sub-zero temperatures

So, I called my Skoda dealer and asked them ; they said the obivious - change the battery.

Couple nights before the scheduled maintenance I was going to pick something from our car and saw the light on. I took another look at the terminal and saw the plastic ring on top of it had cracked and the terminal had turned some 90 degrees - and the light was on regardless car was locked and all lights were off.

So I charged her up and then came a good test ; fire her up after one day sitting at our driveway (w/o charger anymore) in -20C temp.. and she started up just fine.

But... as the maintenance was scheduled ; I went in to change the battery. They replaced the old unit with Bosch S5.

Regardless of this ; cannot be happier with it. When buying her we had to really think about vRS and this 2.0 TDI ; the TDI won with all options spec'd so she is "loaded": Of course it misses the fun factor - that is governed by our another car ; a Porsche.
