Updating Maxidot Functionality

Featured Replies

Our Octy II L&K is an early 2006 build. I understand from other threads that the Maxidot functionality was updated at the end of 2006 to include useful things like automatic door locking and one-press unlocking of all doors.

As our car was having its major service yesterday I asked if it was possible to update the software to provide the added functions. The answer was a firm"We can't do it, but someone else might be able to".

It may be that the expanded functionality requires a hardware change - if so, does anyone know what and how much it would cost? If it's just updating the software, has anyone had it done successfully? And, if so, can anyone suggest someone in our area (East Kent) who could do the job?

I had an Octy elegance built mid 2005, and this car had the ability at that stage to set the maxidot for auto door locking at speeds above 15kmh, and one press door opening, so I find it hard to understand why a 2006 build would not have this facility already installed.

The convenience options will depend on what CCM (Convenience Control Module) is fitted, best to get someone with VCDS to do a scan to see what you have

Forgive my ignorance, but what is VCDS? And, whatever it is, can anyone recommend someone in East Kent who has it?

VCDS - A very dangerous bit of computer software that can "Brick" your cars electronics if you don't know what you're doing with it.

It's quite expensive to buy and it's best left to the professionals on here & at dealers to use.

sorry but I have to disagree with that

Although you can make changes to your cars coding with VCDS which can cause servere damage. But this would also apply if you get your screwdriver and socket set out of the shed.

even a complete novice with VCDS can do an autoscan of their car to see what control units are fitted and see if there are any fault codes listed.

anyway back to the above topic, if the original poster can find someone near to them to scan his car he would be able to see what part number CCM is fitted to his car and can then plan what needs to be sourced to upgrade his options.

I have done this to my Golf after I had my cluster upgraded to Highline (maxidot) and upgraded my CCM to get more functions such as door locking, alarm, Rain Closing and more

The convenience option should look similar to this
